Holistic Science Workshops

Ruskin Mill Centre for Practice is delighted to offer a series of short holistic science courses. The courses offer a flavour of the experiences, ideas and perspectives that will be explored in greater depth on our new and forthcoming MA in Transformative Learning.

The Archetypal Phenomenon of Music

Dates: 15–16 November 2025
Facilitators: Michael Deason-Barrow and James Watts

This course is for everyone interested in understanding the deep foundations and archetypes of music and exploring new musical responses to our contemporary culture.


The Geometric Morphology of Plants

Dates: 21–22 March 2026
Facilitators: Judyth Sassoon and Gordon Woolard

This course will be of interest to anyone wanting to explore the beauty of plants.


From Visual Experience to Projective Geometry

Dates: 07–08 February 2026
Facilitators: Sascha Gruscha and Troy Vine

This course will be of interest to artists, scientists and mathematicians who want to approach the topic experientially.


Plant Alchemy

Dates: 25–26 April 2026
Facilitator: Jonathan Code

This course touches on how the alchemical world view has contributed to contemporary developments in traditional herbal medicine, agriculture and education.


Light and Colour

Dates: 23–24 May 2026
Facilitators: Alasdair Gordon and Troy Vine

This course will be of interest to artists, science educators and anyone interested in exploring a scientific paradigm that overcomes the separation of object and subject typical of contemporary scientific thought


The Evolution of Animals and the Evolution of Consciousness

Dates: 27–28 June 2026
Facilitators: Dr Judyth Sassoon and Troy Vine

This course will be of interest to anyone interested in the science of nature and the role of language in shaping how we see the world and ourselves within it.
